The primary purpose of honing a tube is to improve its inner surface quality and dimensional accuracy. This results in better performance in terms of reduced friction, improved sealing, and enhanced wear resistance. The honing process is a controlled abrasive machining technique. It involves passing abrasive stones or grits through the interior of the tube while it is rotated and moved back and forth.
